List of priests accused of abuse

Here is a list of clergy in the Archdiocese of Boston who have been accused of sexually abusing a child by law enforcement, the church, or both. It includes those found guilty, those whose cases have not yet been resolved, and those for whom the charges were found to be unsubstantiated.

Priests who are found guilty face both criminal and canonical penalties. In additional to jail terms, they can be dismissed from the clergy, assigned to a life of prayer and penance, or laicized. According to the archdiocese, laicization "is a process whereby the cleric voluntarily requests that he be separated from the clerical state." It does not involve a determination of guilt.
