Escalump

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, known in the transit biz as WMATA or wuh-matta, had a pretty cool safety ad campaign that seems to have gone nowhere, according to DCist, sister to our bostonist blog-thing.

Basically, the campaign coined new words to highlight transit etiquette and tips. Our favorite is escalump, defined as a person who becomes a human speed bump by suddenly stopping at the top or bottom of Metro escalators.

Anywho, we're taking local suggestions. The only prerequisite is that it be focused on the T. Keep it clean and funny and we'll post the best, with first names and hometowns only. Send your new words to us via starts@globe.com.
