Morning slowndown - I-93 south

Posted by Mac April 11, 2006 04:11 PM

We've been remiss on blogging today because of a plane crash, which we're covering and which is amazing because the pilot survived after falling from the sky in a plane made of plywood and Styrofoam.

So when we got back, one of our colleagues said the commute on I-93 south was a nightmare this morning. Another blamed it, she said, on the gathering of roadside brush.

So we called the intrepid Jon Carlisle, spokesman for the Massachusetts Highway Department, who said YES, road crews did take over a lane of I-93 southbound traffic from about 9:20 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. to both clean up litter and cut back some roadside brush, which was trapping said litter.

When it came to their attention that they were impacting traffic, however, the brush gatherers took off, and you were late to work. Well, at least you didn't have to cover a plane crash.
