City urges use of public transit

Posted by Mac July 19, 2006 01:28 PM

This just in from the city. Methinks this could get messy. Why in the world are they holding these concerts?

"Acting Boston Transportation Commissioner Thomas J. Tinlin is urging people coming into this afternoon's Red Sox game as well as this evening's Village People concert on City Hall Plaza and classical concert on the Esplanade to use public transportation.

"Although we welcome people coming into the city to attend these activities, I can't stress enough how important it is for them to use public transportation," he said. "With the tunnel closures and the water main break on Albany Street, there are repair crews and police traffic details at various locations. It is tremendously helpful to these efforts to keep the number of vehicles traveling in the area to a minimum so that access for work crews is adequately maintained."
