Posted by Mac July 17, 2006 09:30 AM

These are the proposed detour routes for Logan Airport and East Boston, updated in light of the closure of I-93 access from the westbound Ted Williams Tunnel. Word this morning is that the detours to I-93 southbound from Exit 25 on the South Boston Waterfront were flowing fairly smoothly, with State police moving traffic through blinking traffic lights.

FROM INSIDE ROUTE 128

From the South to Logan Airport and East Boston:
Take either Exit 23 or Exit 26 and follow I-90 east/Airport detour message boards to access Logan Airport and East Boston through the Callahan Tunnel.

From the North to Logan Airport and East Boston:
No detours.

From the West to Logan Airport and East Boston:
Take Exit 24B to I-93 North and use either Exit 23 or Exit 26. Follow the I-90 East/Airport detour signs to access Logan Airport and East Boston through the Callahan Tunnel.
An alternate I-90 Eastbound route is to use Exit 18 (Allston/Cambridge) to Storrow Drive and follow I-93 South to Exit 24B (Airport).

From Logan Airport/1A to I-90 W and I-93 N&S:
The ramp in South Boston to I-93 North and South is closed and detoured until further notice. Motorists from I-90 West/The Ted Williams Tunnel must take Exit 25 to South Boston surface streets.
