Turnpike connector detour - Update
The following just in from the City of Boston:
Acting Boston Transportation Commissioner Thomas J. Tinlin is advising drivers that posted detours remain in place on local roadways in Boston as the I-90 Connector Tunnel remains closed to traffic.
BTD is urging drivers who do not have a destination in the city to use Route 128, Route 495 and other major roads rather than to cut through Boston at this time. Downtown commuters, travelers heading to Logan Airport, and others coming into the city are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the MBTA.
"Traffic and pedestrian safety is our first priority, and with highway traffic now using city streets, I can't stress enough that it is crucial for drivers and pedestrians alike to be patient, be aware of their surroundings and to follow the rules of the road," said Commissioner Tinlin.
