Blowed up real good!

You've lived in Boston all your life and, as an adult, had to endure the pains of the old elevated Central Artery every day on your way to work. Then, when the state decides to build something better, they hold a contest and you -- yes, you! -- are chosen to blow up the old road.

Science fiction, you say? No. Hard core reality, at least in Washington, D.C., where a regular Joe was chosen to blow up the old Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

"As a native Washingtonian (transplanted to Boston
nearly 10 years ago), I can feel this guy's pain," wrote Judy of Sharon, who tipped us off to this wonderful weirdness. "I knew that there was work progressing on replacing the aging and traffic choked Woodrow Wilson, but I didn't realize how close they'd come. Still, how funny is this? Talk about releasing some tension..."

Here is the Washington Post's version of the big blow up, which actually didn't go so well. Check out the video on the same page.
