There's a hole in the roadway...

A while back in the column, we mentioned that the Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition was riding around Cambridge and surveying bike hazards as part of a Road Hazard Inventory Day. Well, it proved successful.

"Given the high levels of bicycle use in Cambridge, it's important that pavement problems be fixed as quickly as possible," notes Chris Porter, chairman of the MassBike Metro Boston Chapter. "On 16 miles of streets in the city, we identified 40 pavement problems that are particularly severe as well as 115 more moderate problems that could cause a bicyclist to have an accident."

MassBike is hoping that by listing these specific problems for the city, the holes and gaps and detached manhole covers will be fixed.

The full version of the report can be had here.
