Be-Jewel-ed "Yellow" Line?

On Feb. 9, Jewel (..singer, songwriter, poet, artist, welder) will perform a free concert at South Station, not for the heck of it, but to promote the Verizon Yellow Pages.

Say it with me: non-fare revenue, non-fare revenue...

The press release says something about giving her fans a special preview of her upcoming greatest hits CD.

And for a select group of fans (no word how these folks'll be picked), Jewel will board a Green Line train (renamed the "Yellow Line" for the day in honor of Verizon Yellow Pages, says the presser) and play for the peeps as the wheels on the Breda go round and round.

Oh. While that train's going from Boston College to Park Street, it will make no stops. And as it whizzes past, Verizon is promising passengers left in the lurch a free, pre-loaded CharlieCard in return. No word on how much it will be loaded. Or how they'll distribute them. Maybe they'll chuck them out the window.

Once at Park Street, she heads to South Station for the 7 p.m. concert. Wonder if she'll take a limo or the Red Line?

Quote: “There were times in my life when I couldn’t even afford to ride the ‘T,’” said Jewel. “When Idearc Media [the publishers of the Verizon Yellow Pages] offered me my own ‘T’ line, I couldn’t resist!”

The money doesn't hurt either, does it Jewel? More on this strange event as it approaches.
