COLCHESTER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont police are investigating three armed robberies in Chittenden County in which a suspect used a long-barreled handgun.
In the first incident, reported at 11:39 p.m. Sunday, Colchester police say a suspect with a bandanna over his face pulled the trigger on the handgun multiple times in the Champlain Farms at the intersection of Route 2a and Route 7, but the weapon did not fire. The suspect fled on foot without any money.
A similar incident was reported 14 minutes later at the Maplefields convenience store on Route 7 by the Interstate 89 exit 16. In that case the suspect fled with less than $100.
Police say a nearly identical robbery was reported in South Burlington earlier Sunday evening.
