BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — A 5-kilometer walk-run in Vermont has raised more than $10,000 for funds that were set up to help people who were injured in last Monday’s bomb explosions at the Boston Marathon.

Ryan Polly, of Williston, organized Saturday’s event in Burlington to show support for the bombing victims.

Polly ran in last Monday’s Boston Marathon, but was stopped less than a mile from the finish line after the bombs exploded.

According to Polly’s website, Get Moving for Boston, the hundreds of people who took part in Saturday’s event raised $10,300.

The money is going to Massachusetts General Hospital’s emergency fund to help patients who were treated there, and to The One Fund Boston that helps the people most affected by the bombings.end of story marker
