Former Kingston Police Chief Joseph Rebello was killed in an Vermont motorcycle accident Sunday morning.Vermont State Police said a Subaru driver crossed the center line of the highway and struck two motorcyclists, killing Rebello and injuring another. The crash occurred on Rt. 14 in Woodbury, about 20 miles north of Montpelier.
According to police, Frank Sargent, 57, of Woodbury, was driving a Subaru Legacy when he crossed the center line of the road and hit two motorcyclists. Two other motorcyclists were able to avoid the collision.
Rebello, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel, according to police. Richard Braga, 57, of Hudson, MA, was severely injured in the crash.
Kingston Police did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
By Sunday afternoon, departments and officers across Massachusetts were expressing their condolences to Kingston Police and Rebello’s family.
