At least that is the word from Mark Maybury, a computer scientist at the government-funded MITRE corporation in Bedford who was tapped in 2010 to serve as the chief scientist for the US Air Force. The Lowell native and Chelmsford resident, who will return from Washington to his old job this summer, says the Pentagon is struggling to maintain its technological edge in the realm of cyberspace. And a primary reason is a lack of new talent. But the court said it is up to the state Legislature to consider whether state law governing when drunken driving evidence can be taken at a hospital needs to be changed to broaden the ability of medical personnel to help the police. Police need to collect evidence, and hospital patients have a right in most cases to give consent before a medical procedure is performed.     The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife said 10 Ten cliffs and hiking trails across the state are have been closed to protect peregrine falcon nesting areas, state wildlife officials said. Biologist John Buck said peregrine nesting season is well underway and falcons are sensitive to the presence of humans. Buck said the closed areas that are closed include the portions of the cliffs where the birds are nesting and the trails leading to the cliff tops or overlooks. In many cases the lower portions of the trails are still open. Last year at least 39 peregrine falcon pairs nested in Vermont, producing at least 60 young falcons chicks that left the nest.
