RIPTON, Vt. -- Vermont State Police say they have identified many of the people believed to be responsible for trashing the historic farmhouse where poet Robert Frost once lived.
Police said Monday that a 17-year-old Ripton resident planned the underaged drinking party at the Homer Noble Farm in Ripton and that a 22-year-old Middlebury resident bought the alcohol. Police did not release the names of either person.
Farmhouse owner Middlebury College says the cost of repairing the damage caused by the vandals had doubled to about $10,000.
Police say that between the evening of Dec. 28 and the morning of Dec. 29, a group of people broke into the farmhouse. Beer bottles and antique furniture were smashed, windows and picture frames were broken, fire extinguishers were set off and someone vomited on the carpet.
Addison County State's Attorney John Quinn said the charges could include underage drinking, unlawful mischief and trespassing.
