BENNINGTON, Vt.—Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington is hoping to begin construction later this year on a $12 million project to replace the existing heating and cooling systems.
Hospital Vice President Kevin McDonald says officials are working to secure a certificate of need from the Vermont Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities and Health Care Administration.
McDonald says he hopes construction can begin in September and be completed by October 2009.
Plans call for the construction of a new building to house the heating and cooling plants.
The new equipment will replace equipment, the oldest of which dates to 1966.
