Former F&W member fined for breaking hunting laws
BARRE, Vt.—A former member of the Vermont Fish and Wildlife board is being fined $200 for baiting deer last November.
Sixty-five-year-old Michael Popowski of Northfield pleaded no contest on Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge that he baited deer.
Popowski resigned from the Fish & Wildlife board earlier this year.
The Attorney General's office says Popowski shot at a deer on Nov. 14 in an area where various fruits and vegetables had been placed.
The investigation also determined that Popowski shot at the deer nine minutes after that day's hunting hours.
Popowski is the third board member to resign in four years after being cited for a hunting violation.
