Chittenden re-issues cards after security breach
COLCHESTER, Vt.—About 15,000 Chittenden Bank customers in Vermont are getting new ATM cards after the bank canceled their ability to be used for credit purchases.
Chittenden Vice President Kathy Schirling says the customers were affected by a security problem at Hannaford's supermarkets. Schirling says it stems from the Hannaford security breach that happened a few months ago.
Until Chittenden customers receive the new cards they will be able to use their cards only for debit transactions.
Schirling says the bank has been notifying customers of the change.
