RUTLAND, Vt.—A woman who allegedly stole a Chihuahua has been charged in what authorities say was a dognapping.

Jacqueline L. Rislove, 62, of Rutland, is charged with grand larceny for refusing to return a dog named Gil after the dog's owner let her take him for a walk April 17.

Holly Silva, 19, of Rutland, said she let Rislove take the dog for a walk but that when she asked for him back, Rislove balked. Police say they're unsure where the dog is now. He hasn't been returned to Silva.

Rislove was charged with grand larceny because Silva said the dog is valued at $1,300.

She pleaded not guilty Monday in Rutland District Court and was released on conditions, including that she not contact or harass Silva -- or the dog.
