WATERBURY, Vt.—A Vermont state official says recent heavy rains and flooding in the state have caused damage -- mainly to local roads -- that could reach the $400,000 mark.
Ross Nagy, deputy director of emergency management for the state, says state and interstate highways appear to have been spared any major damage from recent heavy rains.
But he says many local roads, bridges and culverts have taken a beating, and that there has been some damage to private property.
A thunderstorm on July 18, accompanied by high winds, destroyed one home and cause major damage to a handful more.
