ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt.—A Sutton teenager will be tried as an adult in the shotgun slaying of his mother's boyfriend after a judge upheld his earlier decision in the case.

Jonas Dixon is charged with second-degree murder in the January 2007 slaying of Jacob McDowell, 24, of Sheffield. Police say Dixon, then 15, was upset about the relationship between his mother and McDowell.

Last October, Judge Harold Eaton Jr. rejected a motion to move the case to juvenile court.

Dixon's lawyers appealed and the Supreme Court ruled in August that the lower court didn't adequately weigh the events leading up to the shooting in evaluating the motion. On Friday, Judge Eaton upheld his previous decision.
