CONCORD, N.H.—New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch chopped down a Christmas tree to help a military family and to promote the state's agri-tourism industry.

Lynch presented the tree Monday to the family of Donald Kilmer of Boscawen, who is deployed to Afghanistan with the Army National Guard. He also highlighted the "Trees for Troops" program, which collects Christmas trees from 30 farms across New Hampshire and Vermont for military troops and their families.

New Hampshire tree farms anticipate approximately $4 million in Christmas tree sales this year. Lynch was joined by tourism officials, who are encouraging visitors and residents to make a day out of their tree shopping experience.
