BENNINGTON, Vt.—A preliminary report on last month's plane crash in Vermont in which the pilot died offers a few more details, but doesn't give the cause.

According to the Bennington Banner, the National Transportation Safety Board's report says witnesses saw the plane make two approaches to a runway at the airport in Bennington. Each approach was followed by a "go-around" about 20 feet above ground level.

The Oct. 25 crash killed the pilot, 58-year-old Chaim Weiss of Spring Valley, N.Y., the only one aboard. The four-seat Cessna crashed into woods.

The plane was seen at a low altitude and in level flight with the engine running normally before the sound of impact.

A final report is expected in 12 to 18 months.
