MONTPELIER, Vt.—The forecast doesn't sound much like spring.

The National Weather Service has issued frost and freeze warnings in northern New England for midnight through 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Temperatures are expected to fall to the low to mid-30s in parts of New Hampshire and Maine and into the 20s in parts of Vermont.

A freeze warning has been issued in the Champlain Valley, and central and northern Vermont. That means temperatures could kill crops.

Gardeners are advised to bring inside sensitive outdoor plants or to cover outdoor crops.
