BURLINGTON, Vt.—Vermont's Roman Catholic Church is going to sell its headquarters building and 32 acres of land overlooking Lake Champlain to Burlington College.
The college says a purchase and sale agreement for the property has been signed and the two sides hope to close the deal within a year. The purchase price was not released.
Earlier this month the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington said it would sell its headquarters building and a lakeside summer camp in Colchester to help pay $20 million to settle 26 priest sex abuse cases.
Burlington College President Jane O'Meara Sanders says the college will use the existing buildings for classrooms, offices and residence halls for some of the school's 200 students.
Other plans for the property haven't been developed yet.![]()
