WATERBURY, Vt.—Vermont fish and wildlife officials have announced the winners of permits for the state's nine-day muzzleloader season for antlerless deer. The names are posted on a state website.
About 18,000 people got the permits, and 6,000 are still available for the Dec. 4 to Dec. 12 season.
Thomas Decker, chief of operations for the state Fish and Wildlife Department, says the permits are available in nine wildlife management areas around the state, and that they're aimed at helping the state keep deer populations in balance with habitat.
