LYNDON, Vt.—Students at Vermont's Lyndon State College are protesting a budget-cutting plan that will cost some professors their jobs.
About 100 students spent part of Tuesday protesting in the school's Alexander Twilight Theater and looking for other ways to save money.
Lyndon State President Carol Moore says staff has to be cut if the school is going to close a $700,000 budget gap. She says the deficit can't be overcome by not buying equipment for a year.
Lyndon State has been hit by a drop in enrollment and a 7 percent state funding cut.
But sophomore Shera Howe says her education and her future are at stake if the cuts are carried out.
WCAX-TV says some students proposed reducing the number of college deans, charging for parking, and raising tuition.
