Officials at two taxi companies say they will leave Burlington if the city orders them to install meters in their vehicles. City Councilor Vincent Dober says the city began looking into taxi regulations two years ago because of the volume of complaints received. Larry Bushey of the Yellow Cab Co. and Paul Robar of Benways Transportation say meters aren’t needed. Charges are based on zones established by the city. Bushey says the problem is with independent drivers, who have proliferated in the past five years. But Dober told the Burlington Free Press the city has been getting complaints about all the taxis.
