MONTPELIER, Vt.—A conference committee of the Vermont House and Senate is resuming its efforts to work out differences between the two chambers' versions of a bill designed to bring universal health care to the state.
Meanwhile, a rally was planned for the Statehouse at noon Monday to protest a Senate amendment that would deny coverage under the envisioned Green Mountain Care program to undocumented immigrant workers.
The House bill did not include that language, and that's just one of several key differences lawmakers will be looking to work out between the two versions.
Others include a list of assurances that must be established -- for instance, that the new program will actually save the state money -- before it's put in place.![]()
