Police say man assaulted 3-year-old

A Vermont man has been charged after allegedly striking a 3-year-old with a bag of empty beverage containers because she was crying. State Police said Andrew Duhamel, 30, of Hartford was cited for assault shortly before noon yesterday. A witness told police an angry Duhamel knocked the girl to the ground with a bag of empties. (AP)
