RUTLAND, Vt.—A former Vermont bank manager accused of stealing at least $165,000 to pay for personal expenses has pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of fraud.

Prosecutors say 45-year-old Brian Bouchard of Burlington took the money between February 2009 and February 2011 when employed at Chittenden Bank/People's United Bank.

The bank discovered the money was missing earlier this year.

Defense attorney Brad Stetler tells the Burlington Free Press (http://bit.ly/nPt35k) that Bouchard admitted the theft to the bank and the FBI. He says Bouchard repaid the money before being contacted by federal officials.

Bouchard could receive up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced.
