WILLISTON, Vt.—A 20-year-old Vermont man is facing a ticket of nearly $300 after police said he was caught speeding past the head of enforcement for the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
The DMV says Kyle Doherty of Essex was clocked at 95 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 89 near the Williston rest area shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday.
The Burlington Free Press reports (http://bfpne.ws/trfwVV) Glen Button, the director of enforcement and safety, said he was headed to Montpelier when he saw a 2000 blue Audi rapidly passing morning commuter traffic. He said it went past his unmarked police cruiser, and he eventually signaled the driver to pull over.
