Santa's Land to close in Vt. after 54-year run

PUTNEY, Vt.—This is the last weekend for Santa's Land USA, a 54-year-old roadside attraction in Putney, Vt.
The theme park owners, Timothy and Leslie Wells, say they don't have enough visitors to stay open. They said they reduced the schedule and rates for this year but that hasn't been enough to keep the park open.
The Christmas-themed park was created by Jack Poppele of New Jersey. It opened in 1957 along Route 5.
Vermont Public Radio reports that Santa's Land will close on Sunday.
