Vt. state parks invite hikers for New Year's Day
MONTPELIER, Vt.—Resolving to get more exercise in the new year? Here's a way to start: The Vermont State Parks are inviting people on New Year's Day for guided hikes at eight parks around the state. Most are easy to moderate.
Hikes start at 10 a.m. at Little River State Park, the Groton Nature Center and the Molly Stark State Park. At 11 on New Year's Day, hikers gather at the Kettle Pond parking area in the Groton State Forest for a hike of a bit more than an hour.
Another hike begins at noon at Little River State Park.
And for those really needing to sleep in, 1 p.m. is the start time for hikes at Underhill State Park, Kingsland Bay State Park, Gifford Woods State Park and Woodford State Park.
