Vt lawmaker's trucking firm shut down
BURLINGTON, Vt.—A Vermont lawmaker's trucking firm has been shut down for failing to carry workers' compensation insurance.
The Burlington Free Press ( http://bfpne.ws/ttNHaw) reports that the company in North Troy, which is owned by Democratic state Sen. Bobby Starr of Essex and Orleans, and his son Eric has been shut down by court order. It's unclear whether the company will start up again.
Superior Court Judge Robert Bent granted a permanent injunction against Starrs United Inc. on Dec. 20, preventing the company from operating until it acquires workers' compensation insurance.
Bobby Strarr says the owners might shift employees and assets to another company owned by Eric Starr.
