Vermont peanut butter co. making a go after Irene
MORRISVILLE, Vt.—A specialty peanut butter manufacturer is making a go of it in a new Vermont town after losing its manufacturing facility to Tropical Storm Irene.
The Vermont Peanut Butter Company has set up in new manufacturing space in Morrisville, about 20 miles up the road from its previous site in Waterbury.
Founder Chris Kaiser tells Vermont Public Radio ( http://bit.ly/tmVkcO) that he lost his equipment and inventory in late August to floodwaters from Irene.
In his new plant, which has been up and running for about two month, he says he has needed space to expand.
Kaiser started his gourmet peanut butter company in his kitchen in 2009. He says sales had doubled in the year before the setback with Irene.
