MONTPELIER, Vt.—The Vermont Agency of Transportation has awarded $285,000 to help improve and establish four new bus routes in the state.

Vermont Public Radio reports (http://bit.ly/xXscFf) the routes have been added under the Congestion Mitigation Air Quality program.

The Chittenden County Transit Agency received funding to add another run between Burlington and Waterbury. The agency will also start a route with an Addison County transit company on 116 connecting to Bristol.

A new route will be set up along Route 9 in Southern Vermont between Wilmington and Bennington. And a transit agency in the Northeast Kingdom also received funding to make improvements on a Route 5 shuttle between St. Johnsbury and Lyndonville.
