BURLINGTON, Vt.—A Vermont teacher has pleaded not guilty to a charge of producing child pornography.

Prosecutors say 47-year-old Brant Nelson of Saxons River denied the charge on Friday.

Court records say Nelson was a teacher at Vermont Academy in Saxons River when a former colleague and friend told administrators in January that Nelson possibly had images of child pornography on his computer.

Court records say Nelson confirmed to police that he had child pornography on his computer. Prosecutors say he also said he had sexually assaulted two young girls and taken pornographic images of children.

Police say they found at least one image of child pornography that Nelson said he had produced.

Nelson's activities are still being investigated. The person who answered the phone at his home said he was incarcerated.
