SHOREHAM, Vt.—Vermont police say a homeowner had to have his basement pumped out after a burglar cut approximately 30 feet of copper piping, causing the basement to flood.

State police say the seasonal residence in Shoreham, owned by an Indiana man, was broken into sometime between last October and when it was discovered Friday.

Police say the culprit stole a television and the copper piping, valued at about $370.

Officials say the water caused about $1,000 in damages, and that the basement had to be professionally pumped out by a plumber.
