WATERBURY, Vt.—Hunters have until Aug. 21 to submit a bid for Vermont's auction for moose hunting permits.

The five winning bidders will choose whether to hunt in Vermont's archery moose season from Oct. 1-7 or in the regular moose season from Oct. 20-25.

They also pick in which area of the state they want to hunt.

Bids must be submitted in writing in special sealed envelopments available from the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. The deadline is by 4:30 on Aug. 21.

The department says winning bids are typically $4,000 and help fund Vermont Fish & Wildlife education programs. The bids do not include the cost of a hunting license or moose hunting permit which costs $100 for Vermont residents and $350 for nonresidents.
