FAIRLEE, Vt.—Vermont State Police say the state took custody of a 4-year-old boy after he was found with a motorist who police say was intoxicated and had not secured the boy with a seatbelt or child safety seat.
Police said 37-year-old Amy Benicio of North Thetford was arrested Saturday evening on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless endangerment. They did not say how she and the boy were related but said he also is from North Thetford.
Police arrested her after responding to a call of a possible drunken driver and finding her in a vehicle on U.S. Route 5 in Fairlee. Police said they placed her in the Northeast Regional Correctional Center in St. Johnsbury. She is to appear in Orange County Court on Aug. 29.![]()
