Share your reaction to the gay marriage decision

Massachusetts's highest court ruled 4-3 that same-sex couples are legally entitled to wed under the state constitution, but stopped short of allowing marriage licenses to be issued to the seven couples who challenged the law. The court ordered the Legislature to come up with a solution within 180 days. What are your thoughts on the issue?

I just read over the results - now I'm frightened. The majority of the population in this fair state are in favor of this ruling. And YET, we still cannot purchase alcohol on Sundays. What gives? If we are so liberal, why are we holding back on liquor sales? We are puritanical in THAT aspect but not in what gender marries what other gender? The next thing they'll do is legalize marriage with our four-legged companions. God, give me strength....

Hooray! Its about time. And to all of you right wing religious whackos, long live the separation of church and state. Did it every occur to you that maybe people have different ideas about the existence of God and that maybe your religous beliefs shouldn't be forced down other people's throats?

I think its about time that same sex couples be allowed to live their lives as they would like. To have the same benifits that other married couples have. It is about time this state came into the 21th Century.

A fantastic shining ray of hope for all true patriots!

I suppose all these Gays should read the definition of Marriage one of these days. They obviously do not know how to read properly. Or, as always, trying to bend the truth.

What wonderful news! The best part is that lots of my office coworkers have been exchanging words of excitement and hope and joy about the news, and these are people who have never discussed issues of sexuality/legality before. I am enthused to see the happiness in so many of the previous comments, too! Finally, a step in the right direction. I'm in my 20s, and I am glad when I tell my grandchildren it was once illegal for gay couples to wed, they will not believe me.

I see a lot of religious comments. I was under the impression that religion is seperate from the state and laws. If people spent less time worrying about what somebody else is doing we wouldn't have to waste so much time and money on these issues in the first place. If it doesn't concern you, why do you care? I would tend to think that God would frown upon bigots? I say welcome to the 20th century.

Once again we see the lows that society is sinking to. Political correctness run amok, deviant behavior rewarded. Thank goodness that we here in the Northeast do not represent the pulse of the country, but instead are the outliers, in more ways than one. Shame on the SJC for strking yet another blow against morals.

It is a sad day for Mass. and the country. Same sex marriage is wrong. God did not intend for marriage to be anything else than between a man and a woman. We cannot give special rights to anyone who wants to do what ever they want . Can I marry my dog? Aren't you tolerant of my love for my dog? His vet bills should be covered under my healthcare. That would be fair.

I wish that there was something other than time that would show some of the opponents of gay rights that this decision will not affect heterosexual families and religious marriages one single bit. Heterosexual families and church marriages seem to be doing quite fine in Vermont (and Toronto and the Netherlands and...), thank you very much. You can all calm down now, if you choose to.
