Share your reaction to the gay marriage decision

Massachusetts's highest court ruled 4-3 that same-sex couples are legally entitled to wed under the state constitution, but stopped short of allowing marriage licenses to be issued to the seven couples who challenged the law. The court ordered the Legislature to come up with a solution within 180 days. What are your thoughts on the issue?

Finally! It's high time we practiced true equality in this state. I hope the rest of the country wakes up and follows our example. I am a married straight woman who recoginizes that the right to marry should apply to everyone. It is about equal rights for all persons, period. I don't care what you call it (marriage, civil unions, etc), but denying someone this right is called one thing: discrimination. Now in Massachusetts it's called something else as well: illegal. Hooray for the Bay State! Congrats to everyone who will benefit from today's ruling.

Long overdue, but hallelujah! It is simply the right thing to do and I hope the legislature gets busy w/ the necessary next step. Way to go MA. I can only hope other states will step up to the plate.

It's about time. I've been married to my wife for 20 years and there's no reason that 2 people who love one another no matter what color/race/sexual preference shouldn't be allowed the same joy and benefits that I and others share. Equality is for everyone NOT a selective group

The Bible says that marriage should be between a man and a woman. The Bible says homosexuality is wrong. The Bible says women should obey their husabands. The Bible says slaves should not rise up against their masters. The Bible says we should go to war. The Bible says alot of strange things folks. Technically, we're not even allowed to go to the bathroom.

Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell must be having fits about now. I love it!!!

I was happy to read the decision of the Mass Supreme Court ruling today. It is about time that gay and lesbian unions are reconized and respected. Thank you for making an intelligent decision pertaining to such an important topic.

Actually marriage is NOT between a man and a woman...not any more. As a native Bostonian living in Atlanta I am very proud of my home state. Congratulations to all of us.

We may have lost a battle, but we will win the war. Today kicks off the drive to amend the MA Constitution and reverse this horrible court decision.

Robert, Mansfield, MA

Even though I was raised as a ROman Catholic (and I am straight), I cannot understand the attitude of those who dismiss this decision as "wrong." Marriage is NOT merely a religious construct. Marriage is a concept ,and a contract between two people (and perhaps with a deity). I think that those people who are assigning this label are thinking only of the narrow parameters of their own religion. I find it especially sad that these same people claim to not be prejudiced.

What is next--the next step is the outlawing of marriage because it discriminates against the unnatural and religiously candemmed biblically prophibited marriage--then maybe throw out the bible and G-d as well
