DNC security to affect I-93 from Canton to Woburn

The Democratic National Convention brings the need for security at a high-profile event into conflict with ordinary people's needs to get to get to work or home. Do current plans balance those two sets of needs well?

This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard . Now Boston should of learned from the Big Dig AKA NIGHTMARE at best . Let reck everyones life that need to get in to Boston to work for a living to pay for the stuff we need food and shelter . As of right now I think the voters that are afrected will not come out in Novermber from Boston that are impacted by this . Dumb mission Boston on to get on the map as a great city guess what we have been here over 200 years if they don't know it screw them then as we don't want them . Any home games that week good luck . As we will have a new Mayor next election for this move

William

If I'm not mistaken, there's a big new convention center in South Boston which (for some unknown reason) Mumbles Menino refuses to use!!!! It's this kind of moronic decision making that has certainly cost Menino my vote in the next election!!!

Ray

I think its a real sham. Especially for folks up north. going to have to end up using vacation time to stay out of the city. They should have gone to south bostons new convention center. Why do we as the public need to have our lives so heavily inconvenienced. Had this gone to a vote to the public knowing what we know now, this never would be allowed to happen.

Hey John, Wake up and get a job!! obviously you don't work near or in the city so This doesn't affect you one bit. this has nothing to do with democracy you idiot! This has to do with a bunch of spoiled politicains like menino, kennedy et al dictating how we are to spend our hard earned vacation time and livlihood. To ask someone to leave work 2 hrs earlier than they normally would is outrageous. People pay alot of money to take public transportation to and from the city. Will the city pay the difference of losing a week for a T pass? you don't get it John. So you think its ok to put out over 250,000 residents of this state for 175,000 toursits who could care less about Boston?? Like i said, get a job!

TONY

It stinks. How is my family supposed to get to the airport to catch my flight (which was booked and paid for prior to the road closing announcements)?

Petra

I think that they are ridiculous. There is absolutely no way that this DNC will make any money for the people or City of Boston. I think that it is extremely overblown that the closures extend from the Pike all the way to Woburn. Aren't the proposed random searches of vehicles a violation of our Constitutional rights?

Stan

Ridiculous and shows how out of touch to everyday working individuals the Democrats are.

Harold

What a bunch of whiners! Its three days folks, deal with it. There was plenty of opportunity for people to voice their concerns when this thing was being planned for the last couple of years but now people start complaining once they finally pay attention?? Too late. Bostonians are the biggest bunch of crybabies in the world.

Hal

People would do well to remember that it's the Secret Service and the State and Municipal governments that are setting up these 'precautions' not the Democratic National Party. Bush is a far ore invitign target yet the republican convention isn't experiencing anything like these hassles or security demands by the Secret Service. Gee, wonder if maybe Bush or our Governor applied to little pressure to try and make the Democratic Party look bad.

Brendan

Once again the power elite screw the average working person.
