T riders to face searches during convention
Subway and commuter rail riders will face more random searches as part of Democratic National Convention security measures, and will be discouraged from bringing backpacks and briefcases on board public trains. Is this necessary? Will you comply?

Yeah Michael, only "hippies" are concerned with constitutional rights unlike sheep like you. Idiot.

I am outraged, and disturbed by all of this. However, what bothers me most is not the security measures, but rather the constant complaints from my fellow Boston residents. I'm so sorry that you can't pack your Prada bags full of your 'necessary' items. How will you survive without your laptops, makeup kits, and your extra pair of heels stuffed into your overpriced handbags? These decisions and restrictions are put in place for our safety. To read comments regarding "loss of freedom, " and the absurd comparison to the persecution of the Jews leaves me wondering just how outspoken you fools would be in the absence of security.

Why don't they just ask us to all go to work naked!

More pomp and ceremony and big production that add up to the pagentry of the MBTA. (By the way, let's throw some moving trains into the show.) What happened to the plan that was under discussion to place flashing red lights and sirens on all Red Line cars?

If they are doing this in the name of security how is all this going to help. Let's say that I go to a station and they stop to search my bag in a "random" search. I refuse and they kick me out. WHaqt if I just walk down the street to the next station get past the "random" search and get on the T. How did all of this make me any safer on the T? I would like to know this. Are they going to have a system to stop me from doing this? Submit Submi

These are the same people tht can't stop people from smoking on the platforms, and now they're going to stop terrorists?

The longer I live here in Massachusetts, the more I dislike Democrats. This is just one more good reason not to vote for the party that is making the lives of us "regular people" even more inconvenient. Thanks Mr. Menino!

you're kidding, aren't you? this is as laughable as last week's "federal holiday" to mourn the passing of Reagan.

Give it a rest already, you bunch of nit picking babies? So they have to search your bags? BIG deal!!!!! If you have nothing to hide, what's the big issue? PLEASE do NOT try and tell me your civil rights are being violated, because that is a JOKE! This is for everyone's protection. Because I know how you liberal babies all work. if something were to happen on the T, everyone would be asking why no one at the T did anything to protect them!!! You guys are just never happy! Open your bags or leave them at home, but please shut up with this BS already!

I will write to my city councilor, to the mayor, to the governor, to the MBTA, and tell all of them that this is crazy. This goes against the fourth amendment of the US constitution. Governor Mitt Romney - what are you doing to protect the rights of Massachusetts citizens? Nothing - as far as I can see.
