Media pick Faneuil Hall as perfect Boston backdrop

Most major networks will use Faneuil Hall as the site for their live shots during the Democratic National Convention. What site would you choose to represent Boston?

I think the waterfront should used. Setting up a platform along memorial drive (near the Longfellow bridge) and using the sailboats and Beacon Hill would make for a nice backdrop. Nighttime shots could be done from somewhere in Charlestown, using the lights and Skyline as a backdrop. Faneuil Hall is SOO cliché!!

I know for sure that I would not pick the North End. I love the setting but the residents do not need any more traffic in the area. It is already to the point that some Sat. nights you wait 30 minutes just to get down Hanover to 93. Imagine if they threw some news stations into the mix. I would go with somewhere near the museum of science or MIT, the view back on the city is awesome.

Faneuil Hall is woefully banal. A historic marketplace turned shopping mall should not be the world showcase for the city. Copley Place would be a much better location. There is high foot traffic, plenty of unique landmarks, and open space to set up impromptu studios.

why not use I-95. i hear it is available. great view...

Copley Square with Trinity Church and the Hancock in the background. Memorial Drive near the MIT boathouse with the whole city laid out across the river. East Boston near Maverick Square looking across to downtown. Boston Public Garden with the foot bridge and the swan boats. The park in front of the Fan Pier looking back at Rowes Wharf.

Deer Isle - the way the convension is shaping up, they smell about the same. They are processing the material.

Roxbury, by the Mission Church. Great, sweeping panoramic view of the city from there.

1. Faneuil Hall - it just looks BOSTON and is downtown, convenient to the Fleet and easy for guests to get to 2. 100 Beacon Street - can see all of Boston at roof top and is used to being used as media command center for Pops 3. Beacon Street near the Common and Public Gardens - always just beautiful
