To a generation that does not remember charred bodies of American Soldiers being dragged through the streets of Tehran, the ominous threat of Soviet agression, a partitioned Europe, the boycotted summer Olympics of 1980 and double digit inflation and interest rates the magnitude of Reagan's accomplishments cannot be understated. Ronald Reagan transformed America in a way no other President has done since F.D.R. . The unparalleled economic growth of the 1990's were built upon the foundation of ending the Cold War, establishing the free market system does work and low interest rates low inflation are true methods to regulating the economy. That is just part of the legacy of Ronald Reagan. As a teen growing up in Brockton where I faced many unimaginable "at risk" situations, Reagan's leadership offered hope and vision for a better way of life. I have learned to appreaciate the power of having the courage of one's convictions. I know there are many baby boomers who scoff at Ronald Reagan but for the generation who came of age in the 80's and are the architects of the digital age the lessons of Reagan have been taken to heart. The virtues of facing aggression with strength, the clearest path to equality is opportunity based upon merit, and if you want to get ahead in the world, don't count on a Democrat or a Republican count on yourself will not be forgotten.

Jim D., Brockton

Our Nation will miss President Reagan for his eight years in office and his accomplishments during that time. I was very saddened to learn of President Reagan's death this evening. His strength while in office certainly boosted the morale of our Country. The Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) received Federal Acknowledgement through the efforts of President Reagan. For that, those in our community will be forever grateful for recognition. May he rest in peace after suffering for the past decade. Peace be with you.

Is there any room left on Mount Rushmore??

He did more harm than good. His policies -- including economics, health, and the military -- toward the poor around the world were wrong and needlessly resulted in death and bad health of millions. He was simple minded and fed Americans what they wanted to hear at a time of self-centered, simple-minded thinking in the US.

I was born during Ronald Reagan's first term, and what an influence he has been on my life! He certainly was a great leader who presided over historic times, and President Bush is correct in saying that he leaves behind a country he repaired and a world he helped to save. Good bye, Gipper! We'll keep winning for you!

Chris

He should have stayed an actor. He was better at it,

He saved the world from communism and liberals, two equally abhorrent evils.

Even the citizens of Massachusetts had the good sense and voted for you twice. You saved our country that was crumpling from within.... Won the cold war....... Allowed us to feel good about ourselves again..... Allowed us to feel good about the United States again.... We all owe you. Thank you and God Bless......................................

Michael, Franklin, MA

I see Reagan's presidency as the beginning of the American decline. It signaled the end of altruism and working together, and the start of the selfish, dogmatic, myopic, and stupid America we live in today. He definitely changed America. For the worse. Our present situation is a continuation of his party's wrong-headed thinking. America could've done so much better.

Victor, Lowell

Good riddance. Ronald Reagan harmed this country more than any other president, though George W. Bush is challenging that unfortunate legacy. Reagan had no business being a politician and even as an actor he was entirely second-rate. Unlike Nixon who could at least say he opened up China, Reagan was a complete waste. The country is still suffering from his eight years in office. He will not be missed by me.

Aaron, Marshfield
