Post a thought or remembrance for Ronald Reagan
Page 10
I remember sitting in my 5th grade classroom when my teacher announced Ronald Reagan was our new president. I didn’t realize what a great president we were in for. Who would of thought a Midwestern, B movie actor would rise to lead and change our nation, set the wheels in motion for the demise of communism, and lift the hearts of all Americans. His accomplishments are unparalleled!

Are people in this country having mass amnesia about President Reagan? Doesn't anyone remember "Arms for hostages"? Ronald Reagan made a deal with the Iranians during the 1980 presidential election to keep American hostages in their prison cells until after the election. In exchange Reagan provided military weapons to the Iranians . This is well documented. Though just as bad, what about the Boland Amendment that Congress made into law that no military assistance shall be sent to the Contras. Whether the law was right or wrong is irrelavent. The President is sworn to uphold the laws of Congress. Instead, Reagan choose to send money and weapons to the Contras because he thought Congress was wrong. If that is not an impeachable office, then was is? The list goes on and on and on. Reagan was not a great American President.

Ronald Reagan was president during the first 8 years of my life, so whenever I think of the term 'president' I always think of him. Even though I don't agree with most of his actions, putting all views aside he will be greatly missed. My condolences to the Reagan family. He led a fascinating life that proved no matter who your parents are or what class you're born into, you can become anything you want to be in this country.

Thank you President Reagan. You were the one who inspired me to join the Republician Party in 1980. Current President Bush inspired me to leave the Republician party in 2003 and become a Democrate again. I just wish all Presidents were like you Ronnie. Thank you and God Bless you.

Reagan's death explodes the myth of the liberal media once and for all. The completely over-the-top, uncritical coverage of his presidency proves once again the uselessness of the mainstream American press. I predicted as soon as he died last weekend that by Wednesday the media would have him walking on water. It didn't even take that long. Ronald Reagan was one of the worst presidents to ever hold office. His most enduring legacy is the social Darwinist radical right wing idealogues who will hold power and influence in this country for many years to come.

Ronnie was the best!! Someone to admire!! Democrats in Mass used him as a cookie cutter answer to almost *ANY* local problem. If I had a nickel for everytime Ray Flynn blamed Reagan I would be a millionaire!! It seems every Dema-droid rather than expound on the full issue would rather take the easy route and blame Reagan. It's a simple game plane, when attacked blame Washington, if threatened with lowering taxes layoff police and firefighters and cut school lunches. I am quite sure there are some valid points to raise but we need politicians who can look at an issue from all aspects, not one....

I remember Ronald Reagan sitting in the White House with the Taliban leadership back in 1985 calling them "freedom fighters" and equating them to our founding fathers. I remember him inviting to the White House Jonas Zavimbi the butcher of Angola and commenting him on his struggle for "freedom". I remember his dirty wars in Central America that cost the life of thousands of poor people all in the name of fighting communism. I remember him when he gave the green light to Ariel Sharron to invade Lebanon and bomb Beirut the summer of 1982 killing 15,000 people and then allowing the Falangists to commit the Sabra and Satilla massacre against the Palestinian refuges. I remember his cabinet member Donald Rumsfeld shaking hands with the butcher of Bagdad (Sadam Hussein) back in 1983 in his dirty wars against the Kurdish and Iranian people. Oh yes I remember Ronald Reagan very well !

I have been watching a lot over the past few days about Reagan, and I have a couple of things to note to all. 1. He was a good president in a few things, and bad in a few. The good, is that the country became strong militarily around the world, and in these uncertain times, it says a lot to other countries, that the U. S. isnt going to take crap from anyone. It has to stand up to others. Clinton never put that across to others. But, on the other hand, he didnt help lower middle class people, where over 90% of our population is rated. He took away tax deductions, (sales tax, Credit card interest), off the deductions for all. Most people live on credit unfortunately, and that little extra to claim was gone. He cut most programs that benefited the poor, and lower class. School lunch programs got whammed. As a parent today, that was sickening. Taxes went up. Remember one thing, there are more homeless now than then. The military made out the best all around, and continues to do so/ If you want any confirmation on that, read Tip O'Neils book , Man of the House, quote unquote "He would have made a great king!". Roosevelt was a great president, along with Lincoln, Washington, and Truman. Rest in Peace, Mr. President.

God bless Ronald!!! May you rest in peace. This is what we should all be saying instead of mocking him and saying how horrilbe he was. All you people who are saying horrible things about him you should be ashamed of yourselfs. Your parents must be horrified at the display and lack of consideration of a man and a human being that has just passed on.

President Reagan made mistakes like everyone else but he was never mean spirited. Unfortunately, I can't say that for everyone responding on this site today.
