Post a thought or remembrance for Ronald Reagan

The responses here are very interesting and tell quite a bit about the liberal persuasion. What troubles them is that Ronald Reagan endured countless insults over his two terms and thereafter, but he was proven right by history. He exposed the fallacy of communism for what it really was, a totalitarian and inhumane institution, and destroyed it as an arguably legitimate form of government. He believed and demonstrated that low tax rates that did not punish high income earners did indeed benefit all, and his policies caused one of the greatest econimic expansions in our country's history; however, for those who believe in "income redistribution" based upon some perverted notion of "fairness" this was anathema, because those who "pulled the wagon" benefitted instead of those who "rode in the wagon." Finally, in spite of those who sought to portray him as an amiable dunce, his letters demonstrated a deep intellect and an abiding sense of principled and disciplined outlook. He demonstrated what real leadership is - staying the course in the face of numerous obstacles and distractions and ultimately accomplishing his objectives.

All of you gutless liberals making remarks about Mr. Reagan should be ashamed of yourselves. You're probably just jealous that your hero Clinton couldn't even get close to the accomplishments of the Reagan administration. Ronald Reagan single handledly put an end to the Evil Empire, re-instilled our American pride, and put our country back on the right course after the 20% interest rates and double digit inflation of the Carter Years. God Bless Ronald Reagan, a true American Hero !

I can't believe some of the low class, disgraceful responses I am reading here. Though this is the most left leaning state in the nation, Reagan won Massachusetts twice. Look at the classy responses from the nation's Democratic leaders. It almost made me choke up when I read Ted Kennedy's comments. History is always the ultimate judge on Presidents. It is coming increasingly clear that History is looking very favorably on Reagan as one of the greatest Presidents of the 20th Century. Reagan won 49 out of 50 states for his reelection. Unfortunately, I think it will be a long time before another President, Republican or Democrat, will have such overwelming support. RIP, Ronald Reagan, a true LEADER.

At time of death of President Reagan I offer my condolences to his family and to the American people. Like most American Presidents, his policies and actions affected the lives of many people in the US and abroad. During Mr. Reagan's presidency, Israel invaded Lebanon and entered Beirut - more than 20,000 Lebanese and Palestinians were killed and more than 1000 Israeli soldiers. Ariel Sharon, the defense minister then and the current prime misnister of Israel, did not honor the President's guarantee of the safety of civilians in Beirut after a brokered peace deal and was responsible for the mass killing of more than 2,000 civilians in Sabra and Shatila camps in September of 1982. In 1983, a suicide bomber took the lives of 283 US Marines in Beirut. Since then suicide bombing never stopped! President Reagan could have stopped Menachem Begin and Arial Sharon.

I'm 35. I remember my parents would worry about mortgage rates, hostages, gas prices. They seemed to worry about everything. Then came Reagan! He took office with a swagger in his step and he put that swagger in the step of millions of Americans. His leadership is unquestionable. The true measure of a great leader is in the actions of his followers. The America that I know and love is the America that Ronald Reagan helped shape. Nixon opened China. Reagan defeated communism. The USA is the only superpower in the world now because of President Ronal Reagan. God Bless the Gipper. We WILL win just one for you!

One of the greatest presidents we ever had! He built up the military so it could actually stand up to the USSR and not the sad state it was in under President Carter. He also cleaned up the socialist government that was created by Carter. When he was in office you were proud of your country and what it stood for. From the previous posts you see the liberal left, no, the fascist left again propagating lies and disgracing a great man who served his country well. If you didn't agree with his policies and want to say so, fine. But have some decency and don't trash the man by equaling him to Saddam.

With W to compare him to, Ronnie now looks absolutely brilliant!

With Presidents like Reagan, who needs enemies? He sold weapons to Iran who killed our soldiers in Lebanon, and then he funded Osama who would later attack us too. And people actually think he was a great president????????

He was the right man at the right time. His strength of principle and unwaivering personality helped rise up American Pride and strength to help end the Cold War without blowing up the World. It is unfortunate petty self interests and politics have attempted to degrade a great man. He made us feel better about being American's when the world was quick to blame us for its ills. He was not perfect and we know now that at times people whom he trusted took advantage of him. But hindsight is 20/20 and I don't think you can agrue that the man made you feel better about yourself and America. It would be a lasting tribute if our current leaders would follow in his selfless desire to do good for a country he was honored to serve. That's what's wrong with our current leaders they have forgotten to lead with the interest of our Country first and personal gains or power second. He will be missed and lets hope his accomplishments have not been wasted. George W let's "win one for the Gipper" .
