Is your parish on the list of churches that may close? If so, why do you think it should or shouldn't be closed?

MY HEART IS BROKEN. MY CHILDREN WERE ALL BAPTIZED AND RECEIVED ALL THEIR SACRAMENTS AT THE CHURCH.
ANN G, EVERETT
Maybe if the Catholic Church didn't actively work so hard to alienate most Americans (covering up heinous crimes, embarrasing themselves by denying communion to politicians who don't go along with their antiquidated "values") this wouldn't be happening.
Megan, Hingham
How can people be so cruel? This is a sad day for so many people who have spent their lives giving to their churches. I hope they stay strong and find a welcoming church.
Rosemary, Arlington
To close a church in Dedham that MAKES money is crazy. I wonder if it has anything to do with Father Steve signing the petition? What do you say Cardinal, care to admit to it?
Ken, Dedham
I have to say I am happy for Dracut that none were named to close but I have to also say that I am deeply saddened that there has to be such a large amount closing across the area. My feel is it is due to the legal battles they are having to fight and pay...... I am still saddened and hope that a miracle might occur.
Louise, Dracut
I would like to know how many parishes were saved because of the intervention of current and former politicians that recided in or represented certain parishes. But, I guess I will never know, will I?

I'm not religious, but my great-grand parents were married at St. Augustine in South Boston in 1881, and I was baptized at Sacred Heart in Medford. I hope they consider the historic elements of the churches (architecture, role in the community, etc.), and find a positive use for them that can be shared by those who have significant connections (perhaps a community center, concert hall, or youth center). The worst thing that could happen is for them to be torn down and replaced with generic condos, while the church pays off more lawsuits with the proceeds..
Matthew, Medford
Though sad that the churces are closing if you refuse to change with the times and alienate a lot of people your number and attendace at church will drop.
Susan, Worcester
this would have never happened if the abuse never happened

It's a shame. I think that O'Malley should let the lay people of each parish fund and support it on their own as an option. I think that this will just drive more people out of the church.
