Day 2: What did you think?

On the second night of the Democratic National Convention, five different high-profile speakers -- Ted Kennedy, Howard Dean, Barack Obama, Ron Reagan, and Teresa Heinz Kerry -- addressed the delegates. What were your impressions?

Obama layed forth the path that the democrats must take in order to win the white house. He is truly the future of the democratic party and hopefully the first black president. I as a white american would gladly cast my vote for Obama.

I was impressed with Barack Obama. His presence is a testamnt to the GOP's inability to field a candidate to run against him. As much as people are bound to dismiss Ted Kennedy, he showed his abilities as a speaker. As much as John Kerry has tried to discourage the Bush-bashing, there is an undercurrent of anger that pervades the convention. Hopefully, John Edwards and John Kerry will show the voters what they can offer the voters this fall.

Good speeches, except maybe for Teddy, but clearly and as usual, they are the spoken words of what the public wants to hear. Far from reality and never gonna happen. Four years from now, others will be making similar derogatory statements.

I think that Teresa Kerry has so much money that she doesn't think the rules also apply to her. I don't care how many languages she speaks. I speak only english. As far as I am concerned her actions in Pittsburgh where she denied saying what I heard her say and her return a second time minutes after her first encounter speaks volumes aboiut her character and philosophy. Now I don't trust either of them.

Obama's speech was absolutely brilliant. He perfectly nailed the head on the spirit of liberalism. We just watched the first black president of the US right there.

Bill, Hingham

Barak Obama for President!

Mark, Cambridge

Obama will be the first African American President...you heard it here!

Christopher, Dracut

I thought the anti-bush tactic was terrible. You are not going to get me to vote for Kerry by telling me what Bush is doing wrong. These delegates need to start focusing on what Kerry stands for rather than being traitors to their country by bashing their current president!

Stacie, Cambridge

Bashing and insulting the President of the US, like him or not, is unrefined and pathetic. The decisions made have been hard--a tougher term than most Presidents can attest to. I can hardly believe the Democratic party is not embarrassed to have an obese McDonald's eating, profit-sucking, insult-throwing hollywood type as their icon. I fear the image of America more with a guy like Michael Moore on the front pages than G.W. My respect for any political supporters that show such little refinement and florid hippocracy is very low. This Democratic party is a becoming a disgrace. Happy to be a moderate!

Too much hatred. Would prefer to see more focus on the positive and how to solve the problems of the country rather than hatred for our president.
